The types of visas available
The range of visas to Australia includes work, business, family, student, tourist and other visas for specific purposes. Each of these categories has several subcategories. Some visas can only be applied for while in Australia, while others can only be applied from outside Australia. Visas available in Australia may be conditional on holding a specific prior visa, length of stay or many other conditions. All in all, the system is complicated and one should seek professional advice before taking any action.
