Great news for students and intending migrants planing to settle in Perth and Gold Coast as both areas are now re-classified as regional from 16th Nov 2019. This will mean
- More points for applicants in the points-test
- More occupations to choose from
- More opportunities for regional employers to sponsor staff for permanent residency
- More incentives for International Students – they get more points for studying in regional area, they may get a third year of “Post Graduate Work Visa” if they live and work in regional area!!
The policy change emphasises the importance of international students to the culture, diversity and economy of the state and identifies international education as a government priority. The Federal Government has acknowledged that, in the congested cities of the Eastern states, the infrastructure and services have not kept pace with population growth, leading to housing shortages, heavy traffic and overcrowded public transport. In contrast, Perth has the capacity to grow and WA government welcomes more international students, who are seeking a world-class education in this great city.
